This is the biggest killer of heaters LOW PH you cant see it but its there so the only way to tell where your PH stands is by testing the water. The idea is to keep your PH close to 7.5 on your test kit and if you can do that you will keep the repairs down. Here's a pic. of what LOW PH can do
